Eye Care Insurance Made Simple
Understanding your insurance shouldn’t feel complicated. At Pleasant Optics, our team is here to help you review your vision and medical benefits, answer your questions, and guide you through what to expect, so you feel more prepared for your visit.
Vision vs. Medical Insurance: What’s the Difference?
One of the most common questions we receive is why we ask for both your medical and vision insurance cards. These plans serve different purposes and can work together to cover different parts of your care.
Vision Insurance (e.g., VSP, EyeMed) is a wellness benefit that covers routine eye exams, prescription glasses, and standard contact lenses. Think of this as your "maintenance" coverage.
Medical Insurance (e.g., BCBS, Medicare) covers visits related to the health of your eyes. This includes care for conditions such as dry eye, diabetic eye exams, cataracts, glaucoma, eye infections, and other medical concerns that require diagnosis, treatment, or ongoing management.
From medical treatments to your annual eye exam, we provide a wide range of services at Pleasant Optics.
Conveniently located, we offer flexible hours to fit your busy schedule, so your care works around your life.

Out-of-Network?
We proudly participate with most major insurance providers. If we are not in-network with your insurance provider, you can still receive care with us. We’re happy to provide an itemized receipt that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.
Have a Question About Coverage?
Insurance plans change every year, and we know it can be confusing. If you’re unsure whether we accept your plan or have questions about your coverage, give our Mount Pleasant eye clinic a call. Our team is happy to review your benefits with you before your appointment.
For medical concerns, including diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, or other eye health issues, please call us directly so we can schedule the appropriate type of visit.
